Named “Sexiest Woman Alive” in 2005 by Esquire Magazine, Jessica Biel has become one of Hollywood’s most coveted actresses. Having emerged as a breakout star through her TV series debut on #1-rated WB show 7th Heaven, Biel was most recently noted for her performance in the critically acclaimed film The Illusionist alongside Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti. Entertainment Weekly reported that “Jessica Biel pulls off her most impressive trick yet: transforming herself into a turn-of-the-century Austrian duchess – and a serious art house actress.” For her work in The Illusionist, Jessica has received many awards including Hollywood Life’s Annual “Breakthrough Award”, the Giffoni Film Festival Award, the “Shining Star Award” at the Maui Film Festival and the “Breakthorugh Performance Award” at the 18th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival.
Biel can soon be seen in the sci-fi thriller Next opposite Nicolas Cage and Julianne Moore for Revolution Studios. Next will be released on April 27th, 2007. Biel will also be seen this summer in the comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry opposite Adam Sandler and Kevin James. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry is slated for release on July 20th, 2007.
Biel was most recently seen in the return-from-war drama Home of the Brave with Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Ricci and 50 Cent. Biel’s other recent roles include those in London, co-starring Jason Statham, Chris Evans and Kelli Garner; Cameron Crowe’s Elizabethtown, with Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst and Susan Sarandon; and Stealth, starring alongside Josh Lucas and Jamie Foxx.
As a child, Biel initially pursued a career as a vocalist, performing in musical theatre. Starting at age nine, she starred in such productions as Annie, The Sound of Music and Beauty and the Beast. A natural beauty, she soon turned to modeling and commercial work by competing in The International Modeling and Talent Association’s Annual Conference in 1994. In her feature film debut at age fourteen, Biel garnered raves for her portrayal as the rebellious daughter in Victor Nunez’s acclaimed film Ulee’s Gold, starring Oscar nominee Peter Fonda.
Biel is also co-founder of Make the Difference Network (MTDN.com), a cause-oriented social network connecting nonprofit organizations with individual donors and local / national business sponsors. She was honored with the “Young Philanthropist of the Year” Award at the 2006 Golden Karma Awards for her charitable work.
